NOM Finally Breaks Silence After Iowa Thrashing

‘We shall fight them in the fields!  We shall fight them on the seas!  We shall fight them where we find them!  They can take our lives, but they can never take our PIZZA!”…oh wait, that’s Herman Cain’s speech.  The National Organization for Marriage has pledged today to continue to push to repeal marriage equality in the state of Iowa despite the rather strong thrashing that their candidate got.

Brian Brown finally broke his silence about the defeat of Cindy Golding by saying that “Our goal in Iowa is to play a constructive role in ensuring that the people of Iowa have the right to vote on the definition of marriage and we intend to see that happen.  The leadership of the state Senate has blocked a vote on marriage even though voters in 31 other states have enjoyed that right. We supported Cindy Golding in the 18th Senate District special election because she was committed to allowing a vote on marriage. While we are disappointed that she didn’t win this tight election, we have no doubt that we will eventually prevail. Ultimately, democracy will not be denied in Iowa and the people will get their vote.”

NOM, The Family Leader, and the Family Research Council supported Golding even though she practically ran away from them when they pledged their support to her.  While NOM continues to look to the removal of three Iowa Supreme Court justices back when the ruling was still fresh, they may want to realize that their support now is bordering on the toxic for any candidate out there.

Ach…Brian Brown should remember, it was not until Robert de Bruce that Scotland got free….only to end up as part of England- now the United Kingdom- again many years later.
