Bryan Fischer: Gays Are A National Security Risk

Not The Face Of Boe

Lieutenant Dan Choi may want to go ahead and take a look at our lovely ‘friend’ Bryan Fischer the next time he wants to open his mouth about Bradley Manning. In short, Bryan Fischer is trying to take the defense that Manning’s lawyer is using and use it to pain lesbians and gays as national security risks.

Fischer is a member of the American Family Association, a known hate group, and he says in this clip that “every homosexual represents a heightened security risk.” He uses as evidence the supposed tendency of lesbians and gays to have more psychological problems than straight people. What he ignores, of course, is the fact that social pressures are largely to blame for those psychological problems, and whether or not he likes it, those risks are because of men like him. Of course, he just likes to believe that it is somehow magically appearing.

There are many things that could be used to defend Bradley Manning, but the decision to use his sexual orientation as the primary reason for his breaking of the law is just playing into the hands of men like Fischer.

Much as I agree with the sentiment of this post, please keep in mind that Manning’s attorney is required, by law, to defend his client to the best of his ability. His job isn’t to represent the best interests of our community, merely to ensure that his client is acquitted.
