I went to a Macy's in Tacoma, WA. They told me that I had to use the men's changing room. I am clearly female. I am a transgendered female. I used the women's lavatory in Seattle, WA Macy's. I was told not to by a man who I suppose was part of security. I called 911 and told them about this bias crime. When the cops came, one had a billy club ready just for me and they told me to go home and use the restroom there. According to the police (not the actual law in WA state), I can be denied service by Macy's because they don't like me. I guess that would apply to other minorities, like racial minorities as well. Macy's is not friendly to transgendered women. That is very clear. My website in this post has pictures of my (on facebook) so you can be the judge of if I look feminine enough if you would like to.

I love macys probably the greatest store ive been in. This manager is right macys doesnt discriminate because of gender identity. They are very professional toward their customers. Even though some emplyees might have theyre own personal opinions, they should respect the macys policy or not bother working there.

I work for Macy's, and I can tell you that I am proud to work alongside and in the same store as several very professional and competent trans women. I'm glad to know that our corporate policy of protecting the rights of both our LGBT customers and employees is being enforced consistently and fairly.

I hope the shopper that the former associate was so inappropriate towards knows that discrimination is not the rule at Macy's. I would be very dismayed if an associate in my store made a customer feel uncomfortable in any way, and especially in such a manner as this.

Thank you LGR for reporting on this!

(My comments here reflect my own views, were made on my own time, and should not be taken as representative of the views of Macy's.)
