David Frum…now that is a name that has not graced this blog in a long time. Well, Frum is reporting in a story called “Ron Paul’s Base”that the Texas Representative and Republican contender for President has been endorsed by former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke. The endorsement was made on the radio show hosted by Stormfront founder Don Black. Stormfront is a White supremacist website.
Frum reports that the conversation went like this:
Ron Paul was a hot topic this week on the talk radio show hosted by prominent white supremacist Don Black and his son Derek. Mr. Black said he received Mr. Paul’s controversial newsletters when they were first published about two decades ago and described how the publications were perceived by members of the white supremacist movement. Former KKK Grand Wizard and Louisiana Congressman David Duke also phoned in to explain why he’s voting for Mr. Paul.
“Everybody, all of us back in the 80?s and 90?s, felt Ron Paul was, you know, unusual in that he had actually been a Congressman, that he was one of us and now, of course, that he has this broad demographic–broad base of support,” Mr. Black said on his broadcast yesterday.
Mr. Black is a former Klansman and member of the American Nazi Party who founded the “white nationalist” website Stormfront in 1995. He donated to Mr. Paul in 2007 and has beenphotographed with the candidate. Mr. Paul has vocal supporters in Stormfront’s online forum.
David Duke was eventually countered by Black about the fact that he does not consider Ron Paul to be “currently” a White ‘nationalist’, but Duke responded by saying:
Again, I go back to that, you know, traditional topic that I always talk about, you know, the powers of international Zionism–a power in banking, a power in media, a power in government influence, in campaign finance–a power that’s, you know, hurting the values of this country on behalf of Israel,” Mr. Duke said. “So, I would vote for Ron Paul at this moment because he’s one of the few candidates who have policies in this regard and this realm that I wholeheartedly support, and that’s why I’d vote for him.”
Frum responded to this entire exchange by saying:
A politician isn’t answerable for the antics of every one of his supporters. But there’s surely a reason, isn’t there, that racists, anti-Semites, 9/11 Truthers, and Holocaust deniers are so strongly attracted to the Paul campaign. They hear something. They continue to hear it too, no matter how firmly Ron Paul’s more mainstream supporters clamp their hands over their own ears.
What Frum may be missing is the fact that the removal of the Civil Rights laws and protections would be a gods-send for those who are like Duke and Black. It would give them an easier time to propagate and push their hateful rhetoric and practices without fear of consequences.

Hallo from South-Africa, basically you had forced segregation by government legislation and your answer to it was forced integration by government legislation. Now days you find forced multiculturalism by government legislation and God only knows what they (government) will think up next to force upon people. As I understand Ron Paul’s position is that it is none of government’s business how people choose to live and that it would make for happier tribes; races; nations –whatever and he is correct of course. Government cannot choose who people sleep with or marry or associate with – It is none of government’s business. Long live my Gay brethren who love freedom, long live my black brethren who love freedom and I guess long live my racist brethren who love freedom, long live Ron Paul!!

The fact that Ron Paul can attract support from people like Don Black and Dr. David Duke who have been deliberately consigned to the margins of society by the elite is proof that Dr. Paul is someone who can truly unite the country. Only the elite who control this country from the top down hate and fear him.
Ron Paul is spearheading the long overdue “peasant revolt”.

Sure. Like anything David Frum says is credible. I don’t know why Israel-Firsters like Mr. Frum are so against Ron Paul who puts America first!
First Ron Paul is “extreme”, “racist”, “looney”, “dangerous”, etc..
Too late Mr. Frum. Ron Paul has my vote! So-long to the neo-cons!

So basically, this story does not quote Ron Paul once…but quotes this Frum guy?
And because of this article, youre gonna lump all people who vote for Ron Paul into this category?
It’s incredibly sad when garbage like this is passed off as journalism…

Tom,
A few things…first of all, as long as you stick to the subject, do not try to engage me in debate or try to say that I am stupid or deliberately attempting to sabotage Ron Paul because I am ignorant or part of some liberal media conspiracy, I will let the comment through. So long as the comment is not obviously racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, transphobic or misogynistic, I will let the comment through. Finally, I am not lumping Ron Paul in with anyone. While I feel that Ron Paul is naive and has not thought through all of the ramifications of his philosophy, I am not convinced that he is a racist. As for the fact that David Duke endorsed Ron Paul, that’s a reflection upon Paul, but not in the way that a lot of people would think. His philosophy has a lot of people who like it who are not very nice people.

This is easy. Ron Paul gets the fringe votes because he is anti-establishment. When compared to the other guys (and gal), he’s a friggin punk-rocker. Part of that anti-establishment luster is there because he believes Israel should be treated by the United States like any other ally or trade partner. In some people’s minds, this is anti-Israel. For most, that is a bad thing. For a small fringe, Anti-Israel is a good thing.
But the reality is, both presumptions are wrong. Dr. Paul believes in being a friend to Israel in trading openly with them, and allowing that sovereign nation to make its own decisions without our permission.
Don’t let Ron Paul’s 30 years of fighting for American liberties and the Constitution, oftentimes alone, be nullified in your mind by a few misguided supporters (and they are a infinitesimal minority to be sure). There are nutjobs in every corner, including President Obama’s. It just so happen’s Dr. Paul’s are easily used against him, which is what happens when you step on powerful toes.

And that’s a clincher that I absolutely wouldn’t vote for Paul. Well that pretty much eliminates all the Republican candidates for me.
