Alright, that may sound rather horrific, but the Maryland State Senate has now approved same-sex marriage. Once governor Martin O’Malley signs the law, Maryland will be the eighth state to enact same-sex marriage. Attempts by marriage bigots to kill the bill were defeated.
O’Malley thanked Senate President Mike Miller for his efforts to get the bill passed saying “All children deserve the opportunity to live in a loving, caring committed, and stable home, protected equally by the law.”
Marriage bigots now have to gather a minimum of 55,726 signatures to put this on the ballot in November in order to veto this measure. Polls show Marylanders are evenly split on the issue. Maryland follows Washington State in approving same-sex marriage. Washington faces the same issues with a referendum as Maryland.
New Jersey’s legislature passed same-sex marriage as well, but it was vetoed by Governor Chris Christie.

Marriage bigots? Who are you to call them bigots. As a student of journalism, you are a disgrace.

Ron,
I have never taken a course in journalism. I am a student of literature with an MA in Women’s Studies and Storytelling.

How does “Marriage equality bigots” work for you? Or maybe “Marriage elitists”? Anyway, I knew what the author was referring to, didn’t seem too hard to figure out.
