Ding, Dong Chuck Colson Is Dead

Charles Colson

Forgive us if we are not exactly celebrating the life of Charles Colson, and forgive us if we are not exactly whitewashing the man’s efforts to demonize, destroy and hurt America’s tens of millions of LGBT people.

Colson died from complications of a brain hemorrhage.

In January 2011, Colson tried to back the Manhattan Declaration with threats of impending Naziism, and how the nation was going to end up becoming a Fascist state if the nation did not do enough to ban same-sex marriage and make homosexuality illegal. He was furious over the fact that DOMA was ruled unconstitutional and was convinced that the world was coming to an end.

Colson was jailed for his part in the Watergate Scandal. He was once President Richard Nixon’s Special Council. In jail, he found Jesus- possibly hiding in the shower- and Colson decided to run with God as much as he could, pushing a theocratic agenda.

Normally, we here at LezGetReal like to be respectful of the dead. We like to be nice, kind, gentle, and hate the idea of being mean or speaking ill of those who have passed. . .

Just not this time.

And now for a message from the Munchkins:

Chuck Colson had no respect for me and mine in life, and I find it hard to feel anything other than revile for him even now.  I hate holding hatred of others in my heart, and perhaps one day, I will be able to let my dislike and hatred of this man go.

Chuck has been in my thoughts. I’ve been hoping his death was immensely painful.

Colson’s felony convictions saw him booted out of the legal profession. Let’s not forget, he was found guilty of defamation, among other crimes. To earn his living, he turned to motivating gay-bashing bigots into giving him blood money. His gay-bashing blood money came from defaming a minority. Had he defamed an individual gay person the way he defamed gays as a class, he would have again been wearing a bright orange jump suit.
