When Oklahoma State Senator Ralph Shortey talked to the Daily Show, he showed a certain problem of logic that comes within the anti-abortion group’s thinking. Shortey stated outright that he opposed any attempt to stop men from controlling their own bodies all the while pushing legislation that would take that right away from women.
Of course, the same problem exists for Representative Michele Bachmann who tried to attack Obama’s heath reforms called “Obamacare” as taking away the right for women to choose their healthcare options while ignoring that this is what the Republican War on Women does through attacks on Planned Parenthood. It should be noted that none of these horrible things that Bachmann claims would happen occurred when Obamacare was known as Romneycare in Massachusetts.
ThinkProgress quotes Bachmann as saying:
BACHMANN: What we want is women to be able to make their own choices [...] We want women to make their own choices in healthcare. You see that’s the lie that happens under Obamacare. The President of the United States effectively becomes a health care dictator. Women don’t need anyone to tell them what to do on health care. We want women to have their own choices, their own money, that way they can make their own choices for the future of their own bodies.
Of course, we are talking about a woman who believes that a bundle of cells known as a zygote is a living, thinking human being capable of making its own decision about its life even though it has about as much brain matter as an amoeba.
On Meet The Press, Bachmann also claimed that “every aspect of women’s lives would be better” under likely Republican nominee Mitt Romney than under President Barack Obama. However, Romney has already promised to repeal the gains women make under Obamacare, which prohibits health care providers from charging higher rates to women.
When it comes to the Biblical prohibitions on lying, it is amazing to note just how Republicans could care less. Makes one wonder whether or not they really are Christian.
