Cardinal Dolan Accuses Obama Of “Strangling” Catholic Church

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Rome, February 15, 2012, with his dream Vespa

Cardinal Timothy Dolan is apparently still livid that he is not allowed to rule over the United States government in an ideologically pure manner. He took to CBS to accuse the Obama Administration of strangling the Church over the matter of contraception policies. Dolan stated that the compromise that he, himself, agreed to before it went public was not sufficient because he believes it is too restrictive.

Dolan stated that
“They tell us if you’re really going be considered a church, if you’re going to be really exempt from these demands of the government, well, you have to propagate your Catholic faith and everything you do, you can serve only Catholics and employ only Catholics. We’re like, wait a minute, when did the government get in the business of defining for us the extent of our ministry.”

Apparently, and not surprisingly, Dolan has ignored much of the debate. While the contraceptive medications are used for contraception, they are also used to treat a wide variety of medical conditions that are exclusive to women. Part of the problem, of course, is that these Catholic institutions also cover medicines like Viagra, which is used only by men, and are used to treat a disorder that is not life threatening nor particularly painful.

Dolan also ignores that the First Amendment is a two way street. Government intrusion into religious doctrine, but is also suppose to protect the government from religious intrusion. It has also become clear that Dolan does not believe that his flock are trustworthy enough to decide on the issue of contraception on their own even if health insurance from those institutions would cover it.

Dolan simply wants to impose a Catholic theocracy in this nation, as has been evident in his actions attacking LGBT Rights on “religious” grounds.

Hi Bridgette: Because I’m getting e-mail notifications of these comments, I saw the absurd rant that you wound up removing, from somebody who said that no medicine taken for a long time is good for the body. As happens, I need to take a thyroid replacement hormone pill every day. Without it, I would die. It has no toxicity, and in the correct dose causes no side effects.

Scott, I know. I didn’t want those comments darkening the site. I have to take thyroid pills too. This guy was trying hard to get his blather onto the site, including accusing me of intolerance because I don’t approve of that kind of comment. Thank you, and you are right, btw. Synthroid and Levothyroxine have no toxic side effects that I can find.

Why did Obama’s stipulating that the insurance company, not the religious employer could pay for the mandated contraception not satisfy this revolting pig Dolan? Why does Dolan think he has a right to abrogate employees’ rights?

Because, well, Dolan wants to run our government is my best guess.
