We have good news for all those followers of Cynthia Nixon. She and Christine Marinoni wed yesterday. The two, who have been engaged for the last three years, informed People magazine about the marriage. Nixon apparently wore a dress custom designed by Carolina Herrea, who also designed Christine Quinn’s wedding dress as well.
The two have been together since 2003. Nixon was previously married to Danny Mozes, with whom she has two children. She has a son with Marinoni.
The Gothamist notes that Nixon sparked controversy earlier this year when she stated “I understand that for many people it’s not, but for me it’s a choice, and you don’t get to define my gayness for me. Why can’t it be a choice? Why is that any less legitimate? It seems we’re just ceding this point to bigots who are demanding it, and I don’t think that they should define the terms of the debate… I also feel like people think I was walking around in a cloud and didn’t realize I was gay, which I find really offensive. I find it offensive to me, but I also find it offensive to all the men I’ve been out with.”
Nixon is, officially, bisexual even though she is more on the lesbian side of the divide than the straight side. While her statements caused some uproar, the reality is that she has some choice in partners that others do not, and did later amend what she said to reflect that reality. She later made it clear that she has no choice in being bisexual.
Nixon is famous for her work on television, film and stage, but is best known for her role on the series Sex and the City.
The two had long planned on getting married in New York.
