One Million Moms In Last Ditch Effort To Get GCB Canceled

Originally posted 9 May 2012:

ABC is now ready to decide whether or not to renew GCB for next year. Of course, One Million Moms (A Subsidiary of the American Family Association, Hate Inc) is still trying to get it pulled off the air. OMM has spent two months trying to get GCB pulled off the air, but without much success. They wrote:

Two months ago, ABC launched the TV series “GCB,” a show centered on a bigoted portrayal of Christianity. For ten weeks, episodes have mocked and portrayed Christians in a negative light. This program is about as far from true Christianity as it could be.

Last Sunday, ABC aired the season finale of “GCB.” This week the network will make a final decision on whether or not the show will be cancelled or renewed for another season.

Now is our last chance to send a strong message to advertisers, letting them know we are outraged by their sponsorship of a show that openly ridicules the Christian faith and depicts its followers as spiteful hypocrites.

ABC has to decide if they will continue to push their agenda through a show that belittles the beliefs of millions. ABC will announce on May 15 whether or not “GCB” will be in their fall lineup or if it will be dumped on the cancellation heap.

Kristin Chenoweth, one of the lead actresses from “GCB,” describes herself as a “nonjudgmental, liberal Christian” and describes the premise of “GCB,” saying, “It’s so wrong, it’s right.” And that “The show is funny, it’s silly.”

She goes on to claim, “I would never do anything that would make fun of my God, my Christianity.”

Really Ms. Chenoweth? Because that is exactly what the show does! Christianity is constantly portrayed as a joke and Christians are made to look like buffoons.

Before the show even aired, Robert Harling, the creator of “GCB,” claimed, “Church is sacred…we will never, ever be disrespectful.”

Now he sings a different tune, stating in a recent interview, “We knew it would be controversial. We knew it would be provocative.”

Help us send a clear message to the advertisers and to ABC that “GCB” will not be supported.

According to several people, the show is incredibly funny, but, of course, OMM is never going to actually believe that. They have engaged in a ruthless attempt to stop this show under the mistaken belief that it does anything other than portray most Southern Christians the way that many people, including many Christians, see it.

While GCB has not had spectacular ratings, it has done fairly well for its time slot. ABC is going to make their decision on the ratings versus the cost. If they are making money, it’s unlikely that they will cancel the show.

to one million moms I would like to know which character you are because if you are saying the show is “as far from true Christianity as it could be” then you must be the problem. Are you one of those Christians that just do what they are told and don’t think for yourself? I forgive your ignorance because obviously you don’t know what you are talking about.
mark 12:31 love thy neighbour as thyself. It isn’t your job to censor what others watch. know it is not appreciated. Shouldn’t you be letting others have the free will to do and watch what they choose? If you have a problem with the show as you have made it blatantly obvious then don’t watch it. you as a parent have the power to take the remote and change the channel. Also if you are too lazy to discipline your children and let the television do it for you that is your own fault. You have a blessed day now.

I thought it was stupid to cancel GCB !!! If they truly took it off due to these narrow minded women then I have made the right decision not to watch any shows on ABC. They canceled the River also. So I have started watching other channels now. I will never watch ABC for any reason again. I have actually blocked it so no one in my house can watch it. Love parental block.

These women from one million moms are nothing but a hate group that thinks everything has to go their way, if they don’t like the show then it is as simple as picking up the remote and using it to change the channel. These people need to get a life and not worry about what I am watching. ABC needs to bring this wonderful, funny show back and give it a chance with a better time slot. This is a link to the petition to bring it back.

If you don’t like the show then don’t watch it. Its on late on a Sunday night so no fear it will not corrupt your youth…society will do that on its own.
