Vermont Bi-National Lesbian Couple Will Not Be Separated

Takako Ueda will not be leaving her wife, Frances Herbert, for the foreseeable future. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services decided to defer action on the deportation of Ueda. The Japanese national’s visa had expired and she was suppose to be deported because, as a lesbian couple, Herbert is not eligible to sponsor Ueda into the country.

The two live in Dummerston, Vermont and have been together more than a decade, and legally married in Vermont last year. They were informed of the decision by the Vermont Congressional delegation.
