Fox News Retains Video Producer, CNN Rejects Him
Posted by: Linda Carbonell on June 4, 2012.
Chris White was the man behind the four minute “review of Obama’s administration” video played on Fox and Friends last week. Though the Bimbo Sandwich called it news, most people recognized it as an extended political attack on the President. Some called for the dismissal of White by Fox News.
Fat chance. White produced exactly what Roger Ailes wants – a propaganda piece to fit the faux news arc of Fox News. So, according to Fox Vice President for Programming, Bill Shine, White will continue to be employed by Fox.
But White had applied for a job at rival CNN, which is floundering at the bottom of the 24-hour news channel ratings these days. CNN informed White that they did not require his services, thank you very much for applying. CNN may be desperate for a ratings boost, but they are not so desperate as to engage in outright propaganda for any political party.
Bill Shine, faced with even conservative criticism of White’s video being aired under a banner of news, issued a statement saying that “We’ve addressed the video with the producers and are not going to discuss the internal workings of our programming any further.”
So, what else is new? Fox has let Sean Hannity lie about the Philadelphia New Black Panthers for over three years now. Even their own Juan Williams has called out Hannity on the lie. But Fox’s leadership will do nothing to rein in their propaganda machine. Fox does not have the same access to the White House that its sister company in England had to 10 Downing Street. They will be spending the rest of the election cycle doing everything they can to assure they have a foot in the White House door in January, and confident that as long as they pretend to be a news organization, they are protected by our Constitution and by laws forbidding our politicians suing for libel and slander.
