GOProud is an LGBT sell out group that prefer to toe the Conservative lies about the economic focus of the Republican Party all the while pushing an anti-LGBT, anti-Woman, and anti-jobs agenda. GOProud’s leader, Jimmy LaSalvia, stated that:
“President Obama and his friends on the left want this election to be about divisive social issues, because the President’s record on jobs and the economy is indefensible. . .At this critical juncture, we need a President with the experience and expertise to turn this economy around. Someone who knows how the free markets work – former Governor Mitt Romney is that candidate.”
“Not only does President Obama not understand how the free markets work – he is openly hostile to free market capitalism,” continued LaSalvia. “President Obama’s repeated attacks on Governor Romney’s private sector record underscore this President’s fundamental lack of understanding of how our economy works. Instead of demonizing free markets, President Obama should be focused on creating an economic environment that encourages free market investments and creates jobs.”
“We don’t agree with Governor Romney on every single issue – indeed with disagree strongly with him on his support for a federal marriage amendment and we have urged Romney publicly to take bolder and more conservative stances on tax reform, entitlement reform and spending.”
“Given the vote on our board, obviously not everyone in our organization will agree with this endorsement, and we respect that.”
What LaSalvia glosses over is the fact that Romney refused to run for reelection in Massachusetts because of his record there. By the time he left office, the state was deeply in debt and had plummeted in terms of job creation. In fact, Massachusetts, under Romney, had entered into the Great Recession several years ahead of the rest of the nation. His policies failed in Massachusetts.
Also glossed over by LaSalvia is something that was pointed out by Paul Krugman on The Colbert Report. The private sector is doing fairly well in terms of job creation, but unemployment is still so high because of the firing of many public sector workers such as teachers, firefighters and police officers. Those jobs have been largely lost in GOP strongholds. The fact that the GOP has been doing this as well as holding up transportation jobs and doing what they can to derail the economic recovery by blocking legislation is something that LaSalvia also wants to ignore.
Simply put, the GOP has made sure that the economy is in tatters all the while focusing on their real agenda- destroying the rights of women, sexual minorities, racial minorities, and religious minorities.

Shouldn’t GoProud be registered as an anti gay hate group? Have they ever supported any candidate that had even one progay vote or stance? Mitt is now against civil unions, I don’t think I would want to vote for anyone who was against me. But I guess there are many republicans who do, and not just the gay ones!!!!
