You can take their explanation or leave it as you wish, but Minnesota for Marriage is saying that they are not responsible for a post made on their Facebook page in which there was a Biblical quote condemning lesbians and gays to death. The verse from Leviticus 20:13 reads “If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”
It was not until Wednesday that they removed the post. According to the group’s deputy campaign manager and former Michele Bachmann chief of staff Andy Parrish, his account was hacked. He tweeted: “My Twitter, Facebook, @gmail.com @me.com were all hacked and garbage was posted on the Minnesota For Marriage FB. I won’t be intimidated.”
MFM Communications Director Chuck Darrell informed TPM that “There’s always somebody in this game that wants to inflict or inject a hateful, divisive message, and that’s what happened here. We’ve been running our message for over a year now, and it’s been a very pro-family, pro-children, pro-marriage message, and promoting respectful discussion. We’ll be searching for the person who committed this act and we’re prosecuting them to the full extent of the law.”
Parrish claimed that the post remained online as long as it did because Facebook needed to verify the relevant IP addresses.
Of course the anti-Marriage Equality groups tend to try and hide the fact that they are basing their opposition solely on the Bible, and often try to hide the fact that they hate lesbians and gays.
