Nevada Lesbian Wins Primary, Going To Legislature

Pastor Patricia Spearman has been elected to the Nevada State Legislature. She is also the current vice-chair of the Stonewall Democrats of Southern Nevada. Her victory over Senator John Lee in the Primary largely makes her victory in November symbolic. Lee is an extremely Conservative Democrat who opposes a woman’s right to choose, LGBT rights, and is pro-development at Lake Tahoe.

Spearman won with 63% of the vote despite being outspent by Lee.

According to Eric Herzik “You’re surprised almost any time an incumbent loses unless there’s a scandal. But Lee, while backed by the party, wasn’t the most popular member of the Democratic Party. Liberals flexed their muscle in this particular race.”
