What happens when the pitch about “traditional” marriage wears thin, especially after hundreds of thousands of people point out that there is nothing traditional about marriage as it is practiced today. Well, One New Now made that clear. Take this paragraph:
Jonathan Baker, a spokesman for NOM, says the company chose to declare a “war on marriage” with its customers. CEO Ken Powell spoke at a recent “gay” pride event and declared General Mills’ opposition to the effort to protect natural marriage in The North Star State, where the corporation is headquartered.
That’s right, you switch over to the equally disingenuous and equally erroneous “natural” marriage. There is, of course, nothing natural about marriage. Let us start with the fact that animals don’t get married unless humans force them to. Oh, sure, some species mate for life. After all, who wants to go a-courting another porcupine when you’ve already snagged the ‘perfect’ porcupine mate, but honestly, there is no such thing as a marriage license or marriage contract in the animal kingdom.
Why?
Well, simple. Humans are the only animals who actually write or have a language that is more complicated than “hey, you pissed on my tree, I’m going to beat you into a pulp now”, and that is usually expressed by growling menacingly at the other guy until they either back down and run away or fight.
Then there is the other problem with this whole issue. The fact of the matter is that there are over 1500 species that exhibit and engage in “homosexual behavior” with some even going so far as mating for life. For instance, despite the ‘popular’ ‘song’ from the Discworld novels, hedgehogs have been known to engage in homosexual behavior. So, despite protestations that a hedgehog can’t be buggered at all…it can.
The thing is, “natural” marriage is as stupid as “traditional” marriage in this debate.
Of course, the article that this idiocy was in came about because the National Organization for Marriage is furious that General Mills has refused their demands to side with them in the debate over marriage equality. Baker stated that “You know, they had a chance to respect their customers, they had a chance to respect their employees, and frankly, as a publicly traded company, they had a chance to respect the diversity of their shareholders. And I just can’t stress how disappointed we are that they have decided to cave to those special-interest groups.”
Of course ONN decides to state “According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are only roughly 111,000 same-sex households in America with children under the age of 18. However, there are more than 35 million traditional households with children under the age of 18″ There are, approximately, 34,500,000 LGBT individuals in this nation. This is roughly equivalent to the same number of Blacks in the US, which is 38,929,319.
Of course, there are only that number of same-sex households because- GASP- the way the census is tallied. Since there are only about 3,120,000 interracial marriages, by the logic of NOM and ONN, marriage between the races should be abandoned because, well, they aren’t worth it, right? They make up such a small number of the marriages that it isn’t worth having, right?
NOM is an organization that exploits hatred for profit. That is all they do. As Scott Rose over at The New Civil Rights Movement points out, they will even stoop so low as to use anti-Semitism. He wrote:
NOM is not entirely antisemitic per se — NOM co-founder and Chairman Emeritus Robert George‘s wife was born to a Jewish family — but National Organization For Marriage bigots exploit antisemitic sentiment in parts of the population, when doing so advances NOM’s War on Gays.
Often, NOM is confined to using dog whistles for Jew haters, because in some parts of the U.S. today, antisemitism is viewed as unacceptable, so can not be spoken forthrightly out loud, in the manner NOM gay bashes daily at the top of their lungs.
At its core, NOM is a reactionary Catholic and Mormon institution which has been pushed in order to try and advance their reactionary views of Christianity on the world.

So now they talk about natural marriage, since traditional marriage is shown as BS and worn out.
The conservative churches of discrimination now find a new way to redefine their darkness as light.
Thats what you get when absolutist my way or the highway churches get in a bind re their BS.
Bloggers – spread the light darkness around – its one of the better knockdowns for the bigots.
