NOM Launches Boycott Of General Mills

Boycotting General Mills and Kraft is probably going to mean that your cupboard is going to be pretty bare in the long run. Yes, One Million Moms has called upon their followers to boycott Kraft and now, the National Organization for Marriage has called upon their followers to boycott General Mills.

NOM has launched Dump General Mills over what they are saying is the company’s “radical social agenda”. This is not surprising. In fact, it was expected especially after the protests that have been going on at General Mills’ corporate headquarters have been a bust. NOM has launched a petition, and the Human Rights Campaign has launched a counter petition which can be signed here.

The HRC also notes that:

General Mills doesn’t just do the right thing for their own staff. They’ve stepped up to advocate publically for what’s right and recently testified in front of the Senate in support of ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, telling them squarely that it should be illegal to fire somebody for being LGBT.

If we want more companies to go the extra mile – just as General Mills has with its support for ENDA and its opposition to the Minnesota marriage amendment – we need a big public show of force.

Here is the thing…General Mills and Kraft aren’t the only business supporting LGBT rights. Here is a partial list, and what it means is that there will be a lot of starving people out there pretty soon:
