Todd Parrilla of Stonington, Connecticut has pled guilty to possessing more than 100,000 images and videos of child pornography according to the US Attorney’s office. The 48-year-old pediatrician had been charged with the receipt and distribution of child pornography.

US Attorney David Fein stated “This defendant possessed and distributed tens of thousands of images and videos portraying the sexual abuse of children. This is a heinous crime. That it was committed by a pediatrician, whose profession is committed to the well-being of children, makes it especially disturbing.”

Parrilla’s attorney, Alan J. Sobol, declined comment.

Tom Carson, a spokesman for the US Attorney’s office, explained that there was no evidence that any of Parrilla’s patients were in the images that were in the man’s possession. According to the Huffington Post “A law enforcement officer in Kansas City, Mo., acting in an undercover capacity, last year logged into a publicly available Internet file sharing program and downloaded 104 images of child pornography from a shared directory maintained by Parrilla, prosecutors said.”

Parrilla was arrested this past August. Investigators found some 100,000 images of child pornography and 10,000 videos. Some of the images and videos included explicit sexual acts, and portrayals of sadistic or masochistic conduct and other acts of violence. The children depicted were under the age of 12.

Parrilla faces between five and twenty years in jail.
