Ron Paul Admits To Accepting Social Security Checks

Rep. Ron Paul

One could argue that Ron Paul is just getting the money back from the government that he is putting into it, or argue that he is little more than a hypocrite, but whatever rationale you want to make about Ron Paul, it is obvious that he really isn’t much of a Libertarian. More like he is an Oligarchist.

Rep Paul has admitted that he wants Social Security to go away, but during an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, Paul admitted that he accepts Social Security payments. According to the Huffington Post:

“I want young people to opt out of Social Security, but my goal isn’t to cut,” he said.

The Huffington Post’s Sam Stein then asked Paul, “A bit of a personal question — Are you on Social Security? Do you get social security checks?”

Paul admitted he does, stating, “[It's] just as I use the post office, I use government highways, I use the banks, I use the federal reserve system. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t work to remove this in the same way on Social Security.”

Paul did say that he pays more into Social Security than he gets out, but that still does not change the fact that he is getting that government pension.

Paul has argued that he believes that Social Security and Medicare are unconstitutional, and wants to allow those under 25 to opt out of them in order to save their own money for retirement. Paul is retiring from Congress this year after making one last, unsuccessful, bid for the Presidency.
