If you are a fan of RuPaul‘s Drag Race and are missing your favorite queens on Monday nights, have no fear! The queens are here! (well, “there” actually.)
Yup, a lot of RDR contestants (RDR winner Queen Sharon Needles, Latrice Royale, Willam Belli, and more!) will be returning as guest professors on RuPaul’s Drag U.
If you are unfamiliar with the show, it takes biological women and hands them over to a professional drag queen to be transformed into a passable drag queen with a new attitude – complete with help from a “Drag-ulator” that shows the women what they “could” look like, a real drag queen to assist them that comes complete with a dressing room filled with dresses, wigs, make-up, shoes, jewelry, etc., a pep talk from Ru himself and choreography lessons in order to compete in a lip-sync performance in front of their family, friends, judges, the guest professors and an entire nation of audience. …no pressure.
What makes Drag U different for RuPaul fans is that unlike his other shows, he doesn’t dress in drag. He appears as his male self. In a suit. No wigs. No dresses. While he isn’t the focus of attention in the show, he does show a very serious side when mingling with the women on the show. He’s a very supportive, and understanding Dean of Students.
The show’s latest season premier will be on Logo at 9pm Monday evenings starting June 19th, this coming Monday! (check your local listings.)
You know I’ll be tuning in. ;D
