Why should anyone be surprised that the Vatican is less than willing to actually support stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS when they can just try and cure it afterwards. Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State, has called for universal, free access to the drugs that combat HIV and for investment in a cure, but did not discuss condoms in a speech given to an international AIDS conference being held in Rome.

The Vatican is against birth control in any form, but that has made it so that they are, in fact, pro-STD.
