Now, here are the current facts about the shootings in Aurora, Colorado.

Half of those who died in the shooting have been confirmed. The youngest victim was six years old. Her mother is still in the hospital in critical condition.

The confirmed dead are:

Jessica Ghawi, 24- Aspiring News Caster. Ghawi died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the friend that was with her at the time. As has been widely reported, she escaped the shooting in Toronto earlier this month. Born in Texas, she had just recently moved to Denver.

Alex Sullivan, 27. He had just turned 27 when the shooting took his life. He was married, according to reports.

John Larimer, 27- Petty Officer Third Class, United States Navy. Commander Jeffrey Jakuboski, Larimer’s CO, stated “I am incredibly saddened by the loss of Petty Officer John Larimer — he was an outstanding shipmate. A valued member of our Navy team, he will be missed by all who knew him. My heart goes out to John’s family, friends and loved ones, as well as to all victims of this horrible tragedy.” Larimer was a cryptographer stationed at Buckley AFB.

Matt McQuinn, 27. He was attending the movie with his girlfriend Samantha Yowler. According to reports, McQuinn dove over Yowler and saved her life, even though she was wounded in the attack.

Micayla Medek, 23. Anita Busch, Medek’s father’s cousin, stated “I hope this evil act … doesn’t shake people’s faith in God.”

Jesse Childress, 29- Staff Sergeant, US Air Force Reserve. Childress worked with the cybersystems unit at Buckley AFB.

Veronica Moser, 6. Her mother was wounded in the attacks, shot in the neck.

Alexander J. Boik, 18. He was an independent distributor for Organo Gold, a coffee company.

Rebecca Wingo, 32. Her father, Steve Hernandez, announced her passing stating “I lost my daughter yesterday to a mad man, my grief right now is inconsolable.”

Gordon W. Cowden, 51

Alexander C. Teves, 24

Police have begun clearing the explosives from John Eagan Holmes’ apartment, which had been rigged to explode.

Reactions have been swift with the usual run of people making absurd claims. Texas Representative Louie Gohmert said that the shootings were because of “ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs”. He went on to wonder why no one took down Holmes in the theater. The fact that Holmes was wearing head to toe body armor, including neck and groin protection, seems to have escaped many Right Wing pundits.
