As always, it is amazing that NOM never bothers with actual facts when attacking same-sex marriage. The above video shows Kalley Yanta explaining that, supposedly, “Doctors, psychologists, social workers, counselors and other professionals who conscientiously object to same-sex marriage could face a range of potential consequences including license revocation and lawsuits leading to the possible loss of their ability to make a living.”
As already shown in a variety of different cases, being anti-gay automatically makes getting your licensure difficult for all of the mentioned groups because the groups that offer those licenses already acknowledge that homosexuality is not a choice and cannot be changed. Minnesota, though, is one of the few places in the country that a psychologist or counselor doesn’t need to have a board certification to open their business. We learned this because of Marcus Bachmann, who does not have any certification from the American Psychological Association. This is why he gets away with offering the discredited practice of reparative or ex-gay therapy.
Of course, what the whole thing amounts to is that NOM is trying to give cover to those who want to discriminate, and lying to do so. If what they say is true, why do they have to lie about it? Why do they have to fear monger? Why do they have to engage in these kinds of acts?
That is, of course, the problem, is it not? They know that their ‘truth’ is nothing, and they must deceive in order to justify their bigotry.
