Reaction to Dark Knight Massacre

Batman as he was depicted in Batman: The Anima...

Midnight showings of The Dark Knight Rises happened all over the country last night. While I didn’t go, I had two friends in different places that were going to said midnight showings. They both came back with great reviews, which I heard about right before I saw the news.

I was very surprised to read about the shooting at a Colorado Batman premier. When I think about comic book movie premiers I think of happy, excited people in costume laughing and enjoying themselves while watching a new movie. I do not think about shootings of large crowds where people end up dead.

The idea that this happened at such a happy event boggles my mind. We just finished SDCC and were still in the afterglow, when this happened. It scares me to think that this could happen anywhere. My two friends could have easily been in the theatre where a psycho opened fire and killed 14 people, while injuring 20+ others.

The world is a very scary place. I’ll be looking into body armor before my next theatre outing.

My condolences go out to the families of the shooting victims.
