Samuari Jack Movie “Getting Closer” According to Tartakovsky

Game Cover from Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku.

My weeknights at 12:30AM you can catch me and my partner sitting on our bed watching Samurai Jack on Boomerang. I didn’t get a chance to watch it when it first aired, but now that it is in reruns, its a new favorite. I plan to buy the series on DVD when I win the lottery that I never play (add sarcasm here.). But there is news for SJ fans! According to Cinema Blend:

The way Genndy Tartakovsky tells it, he had three real opportunities to make a feature-length Samurai Jack movie. Once, even J.J. Abrams was behind it, and the animation director really believed that it was going to happen. Obviously, it hasn’t, but that doesn’t mean Tartakovsky’s giving up hope. In fact, while selling his latest — Hotel Transylvania — to the Comic Con crowd on Thursday, he said, “It feels like it’s getting closer.”

To which the packed Indigo Ballroom exploded in applause.

For me, personally, I can’t get enough of Tartakovsky’s work and hope to see SJ brought to the big screen, just like his cartoon sisters – The PowerPuff Girls.
