Alright…Mark Metcalf bears something of a superficial resemblance to Mitt Romney, at least he did back when this video was shot. But this isn’t our Musical Interlude for the night. You see…Dee Snider is not happy with the GOP right now. You see, apparently Paul Ryan used “We’re Not Gonna Take It” as his intro music at a Pennsylvania rally on Tuesday.
Snider informed TPM that “I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan’s use of my band Twisted Sister’s song, ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It,’ in any capacity. There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with except the use of the P90X.” P90X is Ryan’s exercise routine.
The GOP has had some major problems when it comes to their choices of music. Recently, Silversun Pickups complained about Romney’s use of their song for his rallies. Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine wrote an op-ed slamming Ryan who claims to love their music. What makes this worse is that the GOP has not learned any lessons about this yet. Back in 2008, they got into trouble with Heart and Jackson Browne for unauthorized use of their songs.
Romney might want to just consider sticking to songs from Megadeth and Hank Williams Jr.
The Romney camp is apparently reviewing Snyder’s complaint.

The republicans just don’t get it. And ONLY republicans, I can’t recall a single instance of music copyright violation by democrats.
You can’t steal music and use it without permission, even if you do pay the royalties although many republicans don’t. Artists have the right to deny use of their music to commercial and political concerns. Plain and simple: if you don’t ask for and get permission, you don’t have it.
Sure, the republicans *could* have some pro-rightwing group record the song (not use the original) and pay royalties, there’s nothing to legally prevent that. But you don’t get to use copyrighted material without asking….which is really ironic, considering it is those scumbags who try to empower the RIAA and extend copyright lengths.
Here are but a few republicans who are and have been guilty of copyright violation:
That’s not a complete list.

Seems like the only thing people like about Paul Ryan is that he does P90X.
