The 80′s were, artistically, one of the best centuries for music since the invention of Rock and Roll. New musical sounds no one has ever heard before swept across the country. The music video was reinvented and was turned into one of the biggest money making industries in the world. The birth of a new musical television station, MTV caused a whole new wave of popular culture and, strangely, a freedom of sexual identity that outraged, and confused millions. The new phrase “Hip Hop” invaded every television, radio, and social circle rapidly throughout the states. The techno music age began and gave life to drug infested dance parties called raves that would become popular all over the world, even today. Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Glam Rock became the dominant music genre in the U.S. causing a wave of individuality that rocked the nation with it’s fists raised in the air. There was even a weird fitness dance craze that pushed the phrase “if you’re not thin, then you’re not sexy”. On top of all of that, the 80′s gave birth to some of the biggest names in music history.
With that said, thanks to a few videos I found on YOUTUBE.com, here is a musical video history lesson of the century that rocked the world harder than the dropping of the first atomic bomb.
