An incident at the Republican National Convention is exposing the dark undercurrents that run throughout the GOP right now. Two attendees at the Convention were thrown out after throwing nuts at a Black CNN camerawoman and saying “this is how we feed animals.” David Shuster was one of those to tweet about it first.

CNN confirmed that the incident did occur and stated “CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.” There was no immediate mention of the attack on CNN’s air.

The convention organizers condemned the incident and stated “Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated.”

The GOP’s often race-baiting tactics have come under scrutiny of late. While the RNC often refuses to acknowledge the racist, sexist and homophobic dog whistle politics that they fall into, they have been condemned for doing so.
