It feels very weird given that it has been one year since Hurricane Irene inundated Vermont. Hurricane Isaac has made landfall largely in Louisiana. Isaac is making landfall just a day before the seventh anniversary of the landfall of Hurricane Katrina, both of which hit New Orleans. In this case, the National Guard is already on the ground throught the region effected, and FEMA has been hard at work in the area since it became known that Isaac could hit the gulf coast.
There are some 100,000 homes were reported without power.
There were reports of waves cresting over the levee’s in New Orleans, but it does not appear that the levees have broken. The storm is expected to head up the Mississippi river basin and then swing out into New England in the next few days.
