Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine Goes All Obama Gun Conspiracy In Singapore

Dave Mustaine in 2010 by Ingo Hoffmann

Years of listening to heavy metal may not be a huge problem for someone’s brain, but apparently performing it on stage in front of a large sound system can fry the brain- or at least that is what it seems as Megadeth singer Dave Mustaine decided to go all conspiratorial on everyone and state that he feels that President Barack Obama is behind the recent rash of mass murders in this nation.

Mustaine told a crowd of people in Singapore- a nation with very strict gun laws- that “My president. “is trying to pass a gun ban, so he’s staging all of these murders, like the Fast and Furious thing down at the border, you know, Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there. And now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple.”

Mustaine has made no secret of his Right Wing politics having supported Rick Santorum in the GOP primary.

Mustaine went on to say that he may leave US “if America keeps going the way it’s going, because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America.” Of course, it should be fun for him to find someplace where he can find a laxer set of gun laws than in the United Sates.

Rolling Stone noted that:

Twelve people were killed and 58 wounded July 20th in Aurora when a gunman opened fire inside a movie theater during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. The suspect, James Holmes, has been charged with 24 counts of first-degree murder and 116 counts of attempted murder. Six people were killed and four wounded August 5th in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, when a gunman identified as Wade Page, a white supremacist, opened fire at Sikh temple, then killed himself. Fast and Furious was part of a federal sting operation intended to trace the movement of weapons from legal dealers in the United States to the leaders of Mexican drug cartels. The government lost track of some weapons, which were later found at crime scenes in Mexico.

Mustaine is no stranger to anti-Obama conspiracy theories buying into Birtherism stating “I know he was born somewhere else than America.”

Of course, all of these charges are ridiculous given that, even though a majority of Americans want gun control laws to be stiffened, Obama won’t move because of the NRA.

I find myself curious about what the rest of the group think about this. Wouldn’t be the first time a band self-destructed because someone pushed their opinions on their bandmates.
