NH Chick-Fil-A To Sponsor Gay Pride Festival

Chickens Say- Eat More Beef!

Chick-Fil-A’s Dan Cathy may be a raging homophobe basing his hatred of LGBT people on his misinterpretation of the Bible, but that does not mean that the franchise owners of his chain agree with him. For instance, there is one- and only one- Chick-Fil-A in New Hampshire, and they have decided to sponsor the New Hampshire Pride Fest this upcoming 11 August.

Anthony Picolia, the manager of the franchise, told The Daily Caller, the Conservative website run by Tucker Carlson, that they were, indeed, sponsoring the event, and stated via a release that:

“Chick-fil-A at Pheasant Lane Mall has gay employees and serves gay customers with honor, dignity and respect. We also don’t discriminate in giving back to the Nashua community, donating to a wide variety of causes. I would challenge people to come have a conversation with me before they make assumptions or boycott my restaurant.”

Cathy’s corporation has come under fire after he stated to the Baptist Press that “We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.” Since then, he has gone out of his way to state that the company does not discriminate and that his personal views do not reflect on the company.

Chick-Fil-A has become another part of the boycott/protest and counter-boycott/protest war that has been going on in earnest since the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. It is something of a Culture War Cold War, and just as effective.

While Cathy’s comments would likely have been just lost in the long run, in the end, the decision to make Chick-Fil-A the latest cause celebrete for the Right Wing has hurt the corporation badly.

Pride Fest organizer Tara Powell stated that “This sponsorship is just another example of how great New Hampshire is to the LGBT community. We are looking forward to having a great Pride Fest, and are very excited to have Chick-Fil-A involved.”

New Hampshire already has same-sex marriage.

The big question now is, how will Cathy react to this news?

Chick Fil A’s Cathy a false prophet? it saddens me to see all the hatful people lining up to show there hate This alone is a sin and is not what God stands for. He must be looking down on all of this with disapproval We all must know God does not hate us gays as Cathy would like to think and as he would like his followers to think we are loved because we are love gay marriage is a rite all humanity deserves

And don’t forget, this man’s company has donated millions of dollars to groups that push a false, discredited idea and actively work to eliminate gays and lesbians altogether. We call them “hate” groups. And he supports them, big time, with his money.

Let’s talk about: “Dan Cathy may be a raging homophobe basing his hatred of LGBT people on his misinterpretation of the Bible,”.
I’m not sure choosing to disagree with a definition of marriage equates to hatred. I’d dare say Dan Cathy does not hate LGBT. He may disagree with that lifestyle, but I’m willing to bet he disagrees with drug users and aethiests, but “Hatred” is too strong a word for what has been revealed.

I think your intolerance of a different view is disappointing, and hope it doesn’t reflect the majority of LGBT members and supporters.

      Brian,

Out there you will find people who would gladly gut him and use his intestines as streamers after what he said. I am willing to listen to other view points, but that is predicated on a couple of things- first of all, your opinion has to be rooted in fact not belief. Secondly, your opinion has to be rooted in fact and not faith. Third, your opinion has to be demonstrable.

When you resort to words like ‘lifestyle’ and ‘choice’, it is clear that your opinion is not based in fact. The continued obstinance and unwillingness to listen to any opinion other than that put forth by one’s faith indicates a true hatred of others. Cathy’s opinions are based upon the Bible- his faith. He bases these on what he calls ‘sins’. I live by a code that says that treating others like objects is the gravest of sins and the root of all evil deeds done in the world. He has demeaned and belittled LGBT people in other ways. Discrimination and hatred are not just found in big things like calling people harsh words or in attacking their property and person. They can be in little things as well. They are in things that work towards demeaning others, and Cathy has shown that time and again.

Incidentally, equating LGBT people with drug users is a classic tactic to fuel hatred. What you did there was vilify LGBT people and atheists by equating them with people who take drugs- a group reviled in this nation. That is an example of the subtle use of hatred of others. Conversely, what I did was label Cathy as he is and has shown himself to be even if you disagree with me. Using the old canard of how I am the one who is intolerant is also subtly using hatred to advance your cause. Cathy is free to say what he wants- but he is also free to have me call him a homophobe and a bigot for his words and actions. If I was truly intolerant, I would work to prevent him from ever speaking out again.

Out there, on other sites, Cathy is being vilified in ways that make what I said seem like a compliment.
