By The Rainbow Sash Movement:
Archbishop Cordileone has been appointed the next Archbishop of San Francisco. The sad situation at Most Holy Redeemer parish only emphasizes how deeply homophobia is ingrained in the culture of the Church. The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption will be the stage for all the world to see how the Church celebrates in a public fashion this culture of homophobia. The Archbishop’s instillation will be used as another launching pad to promote hate directed at the San Francisco LGBT Community, the national LGBT Community and women. The sad reality about this appointment is how far you can get in the church by promoting a closet mentality and the hate of women. Integrity apparently has no place at Bishop Cordileone’s Cathedral Eucharistic table.
People of good will and reason will understand this liturgical service for what it is, and will respond appropriately and non violently. The Rainbow Sash Movement (LGBT Catholics) is inviting San Francisco’s Drag Community, and the Catholic women’s community to stand with us both outside and inside the Cathedral as we witness this betrayal of the Church’s Social Justice Ministry at the Cathedral. The dignity of the human person apparently has more to do the with clothing you wear, the medication you use for family planning, and what gender you are than your relationship with God.
As we approach the 50th anniversary of Vatican II the Cathedral clergy and staff should hang their heads in shame over the part they are playing in the demise of Catholic Social Justice. Because justice will not flow from this installation of bigotry at the Cathedral it will not be a valid liturgy, and therefore will not be bound by the norms that guide the liturgical celebration. We will come to witness this abuse of Christ love for all people.

Let’s get real here: you need a refresher course in philosophy and theology. The Archbishop’s political standpoints cannot invalidate a liturgy. The sacraments stand on their own and are not dependent on the holiness or character of the celebrant. And if you dare to wear your sashes inside the church or otherwise disrupt this ceremony you all don’t have to worry about security knocking you down or removing you, but your fellow Catholics who obey the magisterium and have no time for your silly 60s style protests. We will be in the pews with you, we know what you are up to, we are watching you and if you disrupt the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass you will be silenced and removed. You will do absolutely nothing for your cause by these antics. Follow the example of the Saints and change the church by obeying. When will you left-wingers learn that the Church does not operate like City Hall? If you want to change the church, obey the church. I haven’t always liked the way the Archbishop-elect has expressed his opinions, but he has every right to have those opinions and my loyalty to the Church trumps any political cause.

“If you want to change the Church, Obey the Church.”
Seriously? So If I want to say..change the leadership of a tyrannical regime, I should sit down, shut up and do whatever they say? Sorry Bucko, last I heard, change didn’t come quietly. And using violence in a church is more disrespectful to the sanctity of blessed ground than wearing a colored sash.

Protesting inside the cathedral is unlawful illegal and causes arrest and jail fines. Just go find another church. If you dont support these people with your.money then you are making your voice heard.
