Vermont Woman Fired By Salvation Army For Being Bisexual

A twenty-six year old mother Danielle Morantez of Winooski, Vermont was a social worker helping those in need find affordable housing and help with keeping their electricity going. She worked for The Salvation Army up until she felt that she could not, in good conscience, keep the fact that she is openly bisexual a secret. She came out to her bosses and was subsequently fired.

Morantez claims that she is the victim of discrimination. She and her husband are both bisexual and have an open marriage. The Salvation Army is saying that Morantez was fired during her probationary period because her values do not match with the Christian nation’s values.

    From Wikipedia:

“The Salvation Army’s main converts were at first alcoholics, morphine addicts, prostitutes and other “undesirables” unwelcome in polite Christian society, which helped prompt the Booths to start their own church.”

I do not argue the good they do. However, it does seem that in some way they have stepped away from their roots.
