The World Trade Center Twin Towers

It has been eleven years since 11 September 2011.

There are a few dates that mark important moments in my life that are shared by the collective consciousness of the American and even the World psyche. 9/11 is obviously one of them. The other being 28 January 1986.

For everyone, that day was horrific.

Eleven years ago, too many lives were cut short, and among them were not only several lesbians and gays, but also some allies or their spouses.

What more can be said? So much has been said or written about 9/11 that it seems pointless to write about them more. We can all talk about what happened that day, or about the warnings given to President Bush in the days leading up to the attacks or the LGBT people who perished that day. We could discuss the abuse of 9/11 by politics yet again.

But, you know something….

All I have to say is the pain eventually fades, but the memories will linger with us for a very long time.
