“Look, it’s the four pillars of the male heterosexual psyche. We like: naked women, stockings, lesbians, and Sean Connery best as James Bond. Because that is what being a bloke is.”- Steve, Coupling “Inferno”.
In 1971, Sean Connery stepped away from the role of James Bond. The movie is based off of the story to Thunderball, though there are some changes that were made including stating that Bond had come out of retirement. The title was a reference to how Connery had, himself, told the press twelve years previous that he would “never again” play Bond. Never Say Never Again is one of two non-Eon Productions film to star Bond. The other, the parody Casino Royale, does not have an independent theme that I can find.
So, we finish the Bond themes tonight with Never Say Never Again. This is not the end of our Bond coverage, but tomorrow we move into some new songs- mostly novelty and Halloween songs.
