Netanyahu Makes Rounds Of U.S. News Shows

Quoted by David Remnick, The New Yorker, September 3, 2012: Lt. Gen. Shaul Mofaz, former Israeli Minister of Defense speaking recently in the Israeli Knesset: “Over the past few months, Israel has waged an extensive and relentless p.r. campaign with the sole objective of preparing the ground for a premature military adventure. This p.r. campaign has deeply penetrated the ‘zone of immunity’ of our national security, threatens to weaken our deterrence, and our relations with our best friends. Mr. Prime Minister, you want a crude, rude, unprecedented, reckless and risky intervention in the U. S. elections. Tell us whom you serve and for what?”

Lt. Gen. Mofaz is not alone. Over 60% of Israelis do not support an attack on Iran and are increasingly concerned about Prime Minister Netanyahu’s behavior toward the United States.

Today, Netanyahu made the rounds of the American Sunday morning news interview shows. He kept beating the same drum – Iran is just months away from being 90% capable of enriching enough uranium to build a nuclear bomb. Examine the statement. In six to eight months, Iran will still be incapable of building a bomb. That is what our Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, has said. The threat is not imminent and we have time for diplomacy to work. Same facts, two different presentations.

We now know that Republican candidate Mitt Romney is a personal friend of Netanyahu. We also know that Romney believes the Palestinians are inferior people incapable of a viable economy. We know that the Republican party thinks they are appealing the Jewish vote by pressing the security of Israel, but they are really only appealing to those fundamentalist Christians who want the Middle East to explode into World War III to bring about the Second Coming.

The last time Bibi Netahyahu was in America, President Obama made it clear that time is running out for Israel to seriously negotiate a two-state solution. After all, they’ve had 45 years to muck around with this, 45 years in which they have turned the world’s largest refugee camp into Swiss cheese, with the Palestinians occupying the holes. The West has spent 45 years living with the threat of Islamic terrorism because the leaders of the terror groups, men like Osama bin Laden, use the Palestinian situation to recruit suicide bombers and plane hijackers.

This past week was a perfect example of how the forces of Islamic fundamentalism will use the United States to create problems for the less fundamental governments of their countries. Analysts believe the entire process this week was started by an anti-Muslim Brotherhood group who came across the Arabic-dubbed anti-Islam video and recognized a good way to pressure the Mursi government. As long as Israel occupies the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as long as they practice upon the Palestinians the same repression and oppression that Jews were subjected to for centuries, people will continue to use that situation to recruit terrorists and find ways to direct them at us instead of Israel.

We give Israel $3 billion in military aid. They have asked for ten times that. While we fund their military, they have built one of the best technology universities in the world and pulled at least 100,000 good-paying technology jobs from the United States. While we fund their military, they are sucking up the technology future in the West. While we spend $3 billion a year on their military, they are spending billions on education, billions that we are not spending on our children.

Benjamin Netanyahu wants the United States to “bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran” as John McCain so lyrically put it. He wants our planes to fly the bombing missions. He wants our installations and ships in the Middle East attacked by Iranian missiles. He wants Americans to die to cement his power over the Israeli people and fulfill the dream of an Israel that stretches from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean. He believes if he sounds the same alarms that George W. Bush used to trick us into invading Iraq, he will succeed in getting his good buddy Mitt elected.

Today, Benjamin Netanyahu went on American television and broke the most fundamental of international rules – keep your nose out of other people’s free and democratic elections. Today, Benjamin Netanyahu tried to influence our election, get his friend elected…and our young men and women killed.
