Tough Crowd: AARP Boos Paul Ryan

Paul Ryan, by Donkey Hotey, Flikr

Paul Ryan addressed the AARP National Annual Conference being held in New Orleans, and while there, the GOP vice presidential candidate continued the, so far, failed attack on President Barack Obama by claiming that Obamacare would take $716 billion out of Medicare. These cuts are the same ones included in the Ryan Budget; however, Obama’s plan calls for restructuring the system to save the money while Ryan’s plan shifts the system into a “voucher program”, which Ryan tried to defend.

The people of the AARP were hardly happy with this. One man called Ryan a ‘liar’ and others booed him throughout the attack.

To date, the Romney/Ryan Campaign has tried to make this attack repeatedly, but been unable to gain traction on it because it is patently false, and has been proven false several times. Unfortunately for the Romney/Ryan Campaign, this has been the only way that they could attack Obama given the Ryan Budget’s push to make Medicare into a voucher program.
