Venue Review: Center Street Alley in Rutland, VT by I.C. Moulton

My first assignment as a LGR music reporter is to cover the Open Mic Nights across the Rutland, Vermont area. My first trip I found myself walking into Center Street Alley in Downtown Rutland on a Wednesday night. Much to my surprise I found a bar full of life. Live music, people dancing, cheap drink specials, and friendly bar service. This place is for the party enthusiast.

Center Street Alley’s Open Mic Night generally runs 9pm to 2am on Wednesday Nights & hosts a variety of acts and drink specials. I was able to catch the tale end of two old school rockers, names unknown to me, jamming out, acoustically, on well know classic rock hits. The bar offers the stage to anyone willing to perform. Whether its music or comedic standup. All are welcome. Matt, the bartender, keeps the party going after the artists are done, with his versatile music collection.

Snuggled nicely between two buildings in Downtown Rutland on Center Street, it is almost hidden. This place offers more then just Open Mic, hosting an assortment of artists on weekends and weekdays. One of the best venues in my opinion to experience live music in classy, chilled laid back atmosphere.
