Clinton Jones Rivers, a deacon at a Kingsland, Georgia church, was arrested on 10 October at his home in St. Marys on two counts of sexual exploitation of children. The St. Marys Police Department received a tip back in July that two children agest 4 and 7 were being sexually abused. Their Criminal Investigation Division launched an investigation into the allegations and were told by the children that Rivers had touched them on their privates.

Rivers allegedly exposed the seven year old to pornography via the internet. Police took several electronic devices including computer hard drives, discs, homemade pornographic DVDs and other digital storage devices and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations has said that the items had images of child pornography on them. The DVDs included a variety of pornographic and explicit behaviors.
