A long, long time ago, my sister brought home a cat that had been abused by the boys in our neighborhood. They had singed the fur on her neck, kicked her around, but she was alright in the long run. We named her Audrey III after this particular movie villain. After she gifted us with a brood of six, of which we kept four, she disappeared one day never to be seen again. She long ago died, of course. One has to be realistic about that, but still, she was one in a very long line of cats in this family- all rescues. My current cat came from a shelter.

Sorry I’ve been so ill lately. I feel kind of lucky that the news has been rather light lately.
