It isn’t often that SNL allows a Musical guest to be the Host as well. Its happened a few times, but almost none as successfully as newbie actor, Bruno Mars, did last night. I was immediately a fan when I saw him perform as the only singer for Pandora, crack up and then bust it out like a madman when he had to sing like Michael Jackson. I was stunned, literally. Jaw dropped open too.
HOLY CRAPOLA, BATMAN! That kid has talent! –Vocal chords divinely blessed by horny angels.
He sang/danced with his usual flare, but when it came to the acting, this is where people paid attention. Bruno, not only fit into the normal SNL cast like he’d been there for years, but he did well as a performer during his comedic skits; taking on Timberlake’s role as a part of a trio of animatronic killers, played the creepy, one-eyed innkeeper of a mountain inn known for Yeti rape, and wowed critics with his vocal mimicry while playing a lowly Pandora intern forced to sing EVERY song from Aerosmith to Michael (and he matched EVERY FRICKING VOICE PERFECTLY!).
Until last night’s episode I’d only known Mars from 1 video/song of his (I’m a Nimoy fan, what can I say?, even though the video below shows off Mars’ skills much better). After last night, he’s got a new fan. Here’s the song that caught my interest. You should definitely check out this new rising star because he’s gonna be HUGE!

I was also left stunned by his impressions during the Pandora sketch. It was really funny, but that Michael Jackson impression is no joke. It was so good that I seriously think that he should include it in his stage show. I was talking to a coworker at DISH who is a huge fan, but didn’t know he was going to be on the show. I had her covered because still had the show saved on my Hopper’s huge hard drive and I showed her the performances. She loved every minute of it, especially when he dresses in drag at the end. He made a big fan out of me last night, and I am happy to see that he impressed quite a few people last night.
