In spite of our liberal/progressive and anti-GOP leanings, the staff here at LezGetReal send our best wishes and healing energy to 12 year-old Amanda Rubio, injured in a golf-cart collision in a gated community in West Miami Saturday. She was airlifted to Miami Children’s Hospital and is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The only information on her injuries and condition is that she had a head injury and is in fair condition.

We applaud her father, Senator Marco Rubio (R), for immediately leaving former Gov. Mitt Romney’s campaign motorcade by state police cruiser to join his wife at his daughter’s bedside. The Senator has received calls from Gov. Romney, President Obama and Vice-President Biden, expressing their concern, support and prayers.

When a child needs a parent, that is when politics shouldn’t matter anymore. It is a measure of the person.
