Cartoon History Lesson #28: Twinkie the Kid

Today, November 16th, 2012, Twinkie the Kid has passed on. He was 85 years old. He was murdered by corporate bankruptcy. Today’s Cartoon History Lesson is about him. Not only was he a corporate spokes-snack, he was a cultural icon.

According to Wikipedia.com:

Twinkie the Kid is the mascot for Twinkies, Hostess’s golden, cream-filled snack cakes. He is a registered trademark of Hostess Brands. He has appeared on product packaging, in commercials, and as collectible related merchandise. Twinkie the Kid is an anthropomorphized Twinkie appearing as a wrangler. He wears boots, gloves, a kerchief, and a ten-gallon hat.

Twinkie was more than just that. He was featured in many shows that poked fun at the character. You may remember him from Family Guy, or the search for him in Zombieland.
