Jeh Johnson has decided that being in one term of a Presidential Administration is enough. After four years of being the top lawyer for the Pentagon, Johnson is stepping down. He is expected to return to the New York City-based law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
Johnson has been part of some major and controversial legal decisions regarding the Pentagon. These include the escalation of the use of drones in and out of the war zones and the revamp of the military commissions to deal with terrorism.
Johnson was vital to the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, the law and policy that banned lesbian, gay and bisexual people from serving in the US military.
