Ellen has resurfaced in commercials for JC Penney’s. Of course, the fact that she has returned has not been missed by One Million Moms…which is about 40,000 women and three ducks in a man costume.

One Million Moms wrote:

Since April, JC Penney’s has not aired Ellen DeGeneres in one of their commercials until now. A new JCP ad features Ellen and three elves. JCP has made their choice to offend a huge majority of their customers again. Christians must now vote with their wallets. We have contacted JC Penney’s several times in the past with our concerns, and they will not listen. They have decided to ignore our complaints so we will avoid them at all costs.

And you know something- I am terribly offended by this add. Those are NOT elfen ears. Those are goblin ears. Elfen ears are smaller and more dainty. And a strawberry milkshake? That should be chocolate!

In all seriousness, JC Penney has been having difficulty lately not because of some mythically effective boycott of JC Penney, but rather because of the greed of the investors. The reality is that the investors have wanted JC Penney to shift its focus, which is in a fairly stable niche market, and push into realms where there are already bigger names. This has hurt JCP because of the number of people who have not been attracted to the store from places like The GAP or other more teen/young adult oriented stores while simultaneously offending the established customers.

The Ellen ad doesn’t offend anyone except for One Million Moms, who are offended by anything to do with homosexuality, but seem to ignore things like violence.

I went back and took a second look at the ad, Bridgette P. LaVictoire you are absolutely correct. Those ears are definitely goblin ears! The shame of it all.

OMM really needs to go and get a life all their protest achieved was bringing attention to an ad I would have never seen and the wrong ears on three “elves”.

I also vote for a chocolate shake.

You know, I find the fact of this Million Mom group offensive in of itself. The fact that JC Penny hired a person who is gay for their advertising is really quite irrelevant. She’s a person of celebraty status who happens to be gay. She isn’t promoting anything but a company name sakes products. I believe if these so-called Million Mom’s spent more time being compassionate and accepting of people as a whole and did more to let’s say stop teen pregnancy, drug abuse, violence etc., so many other more important issues that are really issues and not “their own religious agendas” that things in the world would be so much better served. The person doing the ad whether it’s JC Penny or some other retailor isn’t going to truly influence where I’m going to spend my money. If they have something that I am looking for at the price that I’m willing to spend, I will be spending my money there. Million Mom’s get a clue and move onto something that is more worthy and get a clue while you’re at it!!
