Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried is a fierce advocate for marriage equality, and why? Well, that might be because he is also a fierce supporter of his mother…well, mothers. In conjunciton with OneColorado, Faried and his mothers appeared in a video promoting civil unions. He states “I support civil union, because it gives people — gays and lesbians — the right to make decisions on their own. If they want to get married and let them choose who they want to be with.”

Faried’s mothers married in New Jersey back in 2007. He also stated that “Nobody can ever tell me I can’t have two mothers, because I really do.” Of course, civil unions passed in Colorado’s Senate, well, a senate committee, this past Wednesday, but Faried hopes for more “A lot of people [are] saying civil union. I don’t like it being called that because I can get married to a female and it can be called a marriage. Why can’t a female be married to a female and male be married to a male and it be called a marriage? You still have the same thing, same love and happiness.”
