While Chris Cullver of the 49ers may feel like there’s no place for gays in the locker room, former Pittsburgh Steelers Jerome “The Bus” Bettis talked to the Huffington Post’s Marc Lamont Hill about the difficulties that a gay player would face coming out. He said that “because it’s so testosterone driven, it’d be really really difficult for a gay player to stand up and say ‘hey, I’m gay and an NFL player.’”
Still, Bettis made it clear that he has no problems with having a gay teammate and said that “if your play is to the caliber where you belong here, you belong here.” Bettis also noted that he likely had gay teammates that he didn’t know were gay.
