It has always been one of the ironies of the new generation of My Little Pony that many adults have come into the picture. What is more, there are some who are using the show to inspire them to do good helping others. Bronies for Good is a charitable organization which takes the message of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to heart in trying to help others. Since 2011, they have worked to help others in as altruistic a manner as possible.
In 2012, they raised more than $100,000 for causes including the Children’s Cancer Association as well as helping to fund several humanitarian missions in Africa. They especially helped Your Siblings and the German branch of Engineers Without Borders. Their money helped to fund a new orphanage in Kampala, Uganda to replace the orphanage that was there for Safe Project. Your Sibling is now fundraising for a follow-up project to expand the orphanage and save costs.
Engineers Without Borders wants to go into Manya, Uganda in order to establish reliable fresh water and better sanitation. That project is now fully funded, but EWB wants to go in and put in rainwater harvesting tanks as well.
The LGBT Community has come under fire from the political leadership inside Uganda, but that should never stop people from helping others. Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans people, and all of us under that community have been portrayed as being selfish and horrible. We prove that wrong by not turning our backs on those in need. We prove that we are better than those who attack us by reaching out to help others especially when those who claim that we are evil will not.
Here are some informative links about the projects and organizations, and let us all hope that Bronies For Good continue to do good.
