*Reaches over to her bookshelf and pulls out a book* Ahem…according to this book about the future of mankind, in 2053, humanity will be devastated by a massive nuclear war that kills billions and results a decade later in the first successful test of a faster than light engine and contact with non-humans.

Well, Star Trek is just as accurate as Reverend Donald Wildmon’s prediction that, by 2060, Christians are going to be treated as second class citizens and subjected to segregation and Jim Crow laws. Apparently, he also believes that a Spartan-like society is about to come into existence where the State takes charge of children at the moment of their birth. Of course, if the State is raising these children…who is teaching them about Christianity if Christians are second class citizens and no one is born a Christian?

Here’s Wildmon’s latest pass around email trying to get support:

What will religion look like in the year 2060?

Conservative Christians will be treated as second class citizens, much like African Americans were prior to civil rights legislation in the 1960s.

Family as we know it will be drastically changed with the state taking charge of the children beginning at birth.

Marriage will include two, three, four or any number of participants. Marriage will not be important, with individuals moving in and out of a “family” group at will.

Church buildings will be little used, with many sold to secular buyers and the money received going to the government.

Churches will not be allowed to discuss any political issues, even if it affects the church directly.

Tax credit given to churches and non-profit organizations will cease.

Christian broadcasting will be declared illegal based on the separation of church and state. The airwaves belong to the government, therefore they cannot be used for any religious purpose.

We will have, or have had, a Muslim president.

Cities with a name from the Bible such as St. Petersburg, Bethlehem, etc. will be forced to change their name due to separation of church and state.

Groups connected to any religious affiliation will be forced out of health care. Health centers get tax money from the state, making it a violation of church and state.

Donald E. Wildmon

Of course, none of that is going to happen, but then again, Wildmon is more interested in causing upset than about actually coming up with something that makes sense or is sane or…heck, even has a narrative cohesion.

You see, there is no way that someone can teach another person about Christianity if all of that stuff is made illegal and banned and children are taken away at birth. Wildmon is presenting an Orwellian dystopia for the masses of his followers to believe without any of them actually wondering why he believes this will happen.

Like it or not, the attempts to make Christians sound like a repressed people is just sickening.  It is not surprising that Wildmon would stoop to this level in order to push his ideology given that he’s gone a lot further down than this in the past, but it really is sickening to watch him try and claim some kind of moral high ground given that his own group and religious beliefs are rooted in the very segregation of Blacks he now claims will happen to Christians.

However, I can make a prediction about the future…by 2060, Wildmon will be dead.

What? The odds of him living to be 122 are nigh on impossible.
