The Archdiocese of Cincinnati fired Mike Moroski, the assistant principal at the Purcell Marian High School citing “poor judgement” and stating that he had violated the teachings of the Catholic Church. The termination did not come as a surprise for Moroski. He had refused to take down a blog post supporting same-sex marriage.
Moroski has told reporters that he was following his conscience when he wrote the blog post even though he knew it violated the social media policy of the school. He does not feel he violated the teachings of the Church. He stated “I put it up there because I really truly honestly believe it. I’m absolutely willing to lose my job over this. The only difficult thing for me now is the students.”
Moroski had taught at the school for just over a year and a half. He had taught at Moeller High School for ten years prior to that.
